The Member for Cootamundra today announced $32,905 for projects in the Weddin Shire from the NSW Government’s 2019 Community Building Partnership Program.

The Weddin Shire Council has secured $6,000 to connect the Saint Joseph’s Primary School grounds and oval irrigation to the Grenfell Sewer Reuse System, and the Grenfell Uniting Church will be upgrading their hall’s kitchen thanks to a $26,905 grant.

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke said the projects would benefit a range of people in the community.

“I am so pleased these projects have secured funding from the Community Building Partnership program, which is all about developing places and spaces for the whole community,” Ms Cooke said.

“I want to congratulate the Weddin Shire Council for this fantastic water-saving project, which will be a great benefit to the Saint Joseph’s school community, and with the help of this grant the Uniting Church Hall will continue to be an important facility for many community groups in Grenfell. I look forward to seeing the finished works.”

Murray Walker from the Grenfell Uniting Church said the Hall renovations would modernise the much-used kitchen.

“First we are very grateful and appreciative to Steph, and to the Community Building Partnership program,” Mr Walker said.

“This really is a community hall, lots of volunteer groups use this space. These improvements mean all the volunteers within the community and church members will be able to work in a modern, well-appointed, functional and easy to clean environment.”

Now a decade old, the Community Building Partnership program has funded more than 13,800 community projects since it commenced in 2009.

Applications for the 2020 Program opened in May.
