Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke has today announced funding for the Koorawatha Showground from the NSW Government’s Crown Reserves Improvement Fund.
A $57,532 grant has been awarded to replace a shed at the showground. The investment follows two grants from the NSW Government’s Showground Stimulus totalling $86,953 to install evaporative cooling in the luncheon booth and to complete work on the amenities block.
The new shed will be a multipurpose American-style barn.
Ms Cooke said she was proud of the ongoing investment in Koorawatha.
“Showgrounds are vital community spaces and I am so pleased Koorawatha has received this funding from the NSW Government,” Ms Cooke said.
“This work will replace the old shed and give a boost to future events. It’s also great to see the work that has been completed from previous funding.”
“This support from the NSW Government is focused on strengthening our regional communities and investment like this helps community organisations like the Koorawatha Showground Land Manager the opportunity to do important work without drawing money from the community.”
Koorawatha Showground Land Manager President Harry Houghton said he was very pleased with the support.
“This funding has been good because we’ve never seen as much money as we have seen lately,” Mr Houghton.
“The new shed will be used for things like junior judging on show day.”
“We’ve been able to upgrade the showground considerably and this last grant for the new shed is virtually the last piece of work we need to do for quite some time.”
