Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke has today announced upgrades for the Illabo Showground, made possible thanks to funding from the NSW Government’s Showground Stimulus.

The Showground’s bar area and sheep yards will be rebuilt, and additional power points will be installed thanks to a $144,786 grant.

Steph Cooke MP said the investment would improve the experience of all users of the showground.

“This is a huge vote of confidence in this community asset and a boost to Illabo’s economy,” Ms Cooke said.

“This year we should have been able to celebrate the 100th Illabo Show and a range of other fantastic events which have had to be postponed, now these can come back bigger and better than ever with these upgrades.”

David Carter from the Illabo Showground Land Manager said the upgrades would benefit the showgrounds many users.

“This funding means we can make major improvements to the facilities that we can offer to the community, which will enhance their experience. The camping power points expands the ability to have campers there, it also means those people using the showgrounds don’t have to bring generators,” Mr Carter said. “We want to thank the NSW Government and Steph Cooke for helping us modernise our facilities.”
