Kurrajong Waratah’s recycling facility in West Wyalong will be undergoing upgrades thanks to funding from the NSW Government.

The Member for Cootamundra announced a $22,340 grant from the Community Building Partnerships fund which will be used to build a new ladies toilet and upgrade the air conditioning in the recycling shed.

Steph Cooke MP said she was pleased Kurrajong Waratah would be able to upgrade their facilities with this funding.

“Kurrajong Waratah are brilliant at what they do, playing an important role in our community and creating employment opportunities,” Ms Cooke said.

“Any financial assistance that helps them do their vital work is wonderful. It’s a real pleasure to be able to announce this funding.”

Kurrajong Small Businesses Manager Nicole Prior said the upgrades would make a huge difference to staff.

“We are really appreciative of this funding and want to say a huge thank you,” Ms Prior said.

“We are absolutely thrilled because this now means we can build a second toilet, a few years ago we had an almost entirely male workforce, now we have nearly 10 females staff members who will now have their own facilities. And the new air-conditioning is going to be fabulous.”

Applications open for the next round of the NSW Community Building Partnership program next month.
