Local festivals encouraged to apply for up to $10,000

Steph Cooke MP with members of the Young and District Multicultural Association

There is just a week left for local community multicultural groups to apply for festival funding, Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke announced today.

Up to $10,000 is available for festivals or events that showcase the cultural diversity of the electorate.

“The Cootamundra electorate is a melting pot of cultures and I’d love to see that celebrated and shared even further with local events,” Ms Cooke said.

“If you’ve got an idea for an event and could benefit from some seed funding, or maybe you’re looking to grow, I encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity.

“This grants program offers some much needed extra support to our local organisations who deliver festivals and events that bring us together.”

To be eligible for a Multicultural NSW Celebrating Diversity Event grant, applicants must be non-profit sharing organisations located in NSW and meet the assessment criteria.

Mr Williams said up to $10,000 was available for eligible organisations hosting events and festivals that showcase cultural diversity.

“I encourage all eligible organisations across the State to apply for a Celebrating Diversity Event grant, particularly those based in regional and rural NSW.”

The NSW Liberals and Nationals Government has committed nearly $3 million to multicultural festivals over the last two years.

Multicultural NSW event grants have previously supported community Harmony Day and Australia Day celebrations, art, music and film festivals, and sporting events.

Celebrating Diversity event grants are now open and will close at 5pm Thursday, February 28, 2019.
