Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke today joined with the Cowra Shire Council in celebrating the success of their grant-winning Festival of Place project.

The Cowra Shire Council has received $10,000 from the Festival of Place Summer Fund to offer 1,000 free cinema tickets to anyone who has spent money at local businesses three hours prior to the movie session.

So far more than 600 tickets have been claimed, giving a boost to local businesses and enabling people to get out and enjoy everything Cowra has to offer.

Ms Cooke said the grant recognised the innovation of Council’s idea.

“This is a fantastic way of getting people supporting local businesses and giving people a well-deserved break with a trip to the cinema,” Ms Cooke said.

“With cinemas now able to return to 100% capacity this is a great excuse for everyone to get out and enjoy a movie.”

“Congratulations to the Council on this fantastic initiative which is clearly very popular with the community.”
