Barellan’s Showground will soon be installing a new kitchen in the Carroll Pavilion, made possible through the Crown Reserves Improvement Fund.

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke awarded a $62,345 grant from the NSW Government which will purchase and install the new kitchen.

Ms Cooke said she was delighted to announce the grant.

“This is a beautiful showground and home to iconic events like the Good Old Days Festival, and I always enjoy my time at this great community space. This new kitchen will enhance the experience of volunteers and visitors,” Ms Cooke said.

“It was a privilege to be able to announce funding from the Showground Stimulus last year, when the Barellan Showground was awarded $244,992 to build toilets and amenities.”

“Together with this new grant a huge amount of work is happening at this great site to ensure it can be enjoyed for generations.”

Assistant Secretary of the Barellan Show Society Tracey Gordon said she was delighted.

“I am overwhelmed we have received this funding. When Steph called to tell us we had gotten this grant I was so excited. It’s going to make a huge difference to us,” Ms Gordon said.

“At the moment the kitchen doesn’t even have an oven, so it’s going to become a facility that could be used for many kinds of functions including meetings and functions.”

“This is going to become an asset for the entire community, be a place people enjoy working in and open up more opportunities for events.”
