Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke today announced that the region will feature on Channel Seven’s popular lifestyle television show Better Homes and Gardens, thanks to a NSW Government initiative to promote regional NSW’s top tourism destinations.

The show’s cooking presenter ‘Fast’ Ed Halmagyi travelled to Cowra and Junee this week to film a number of segments to profile the region’s outstanding natural beauty, farms and bountiful fresh produce.

Ms Cooke said the filming opportunity was secured by the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.

“The NSW Government is committed to growing tourism in our wonderful rural and regional communities, and one of my key priorities is ensuring this part of NSW reaps the benefits of the Government’s record investment in the industry,” Ms Cooke said.

“It’s so exciting to see that our beautiful region is being recognised for its fantastic tourism destinations.

“When I’m visiting our towns and villages, I’m always impressed by the beauty of the landscapes and by the hard work put in by passionate and dedicated communities to draw in tourists.”

Showcasing the area’s excellent culinary and agricultural offerings, Ed explored his way through the region meeting with local producers, including the Junee Liquorice & Chocolate Factory to pick up key ingredients to cook a signature dish to showcase the area – Easy Liquorice Pudding.

Minister for Tourism Stuart Ayres said the initiative is part of the NSW Government’s strategy to triple overnight visitor expenditure in NSW by 2030.

“The NSW Government is determined to continue turbocharging rural and regional tourism and share the best of the bush and our wonderful local produce with the world,” Mr Ayres said.

“Securing media coverage, including segments on popular TV shows like Better Homes and Gardens, helps to promote our State’s destination and culinary experiences to a wide audience, and inspires people to look to regional New South Wales when planning their next holiday.”

The episode will air on Friday May 24 2019 on the Seven Network at 7pm.
