Small Communities Have Say on Cowra Hospital Redevelopment

Steph Cooke stands in the sunshine out out the front of the Cowra Hospital.

The Member for Cootamundra has held drop in sessions in the villages and small communities outside of Cowra to ensure their voices are heard in the Cowra Hospital redevelopment.

Steph Cooke recently visited Canowindra, Gooloogong, Woodstock and Wyangala Dam, collecting community suggestions on their health service needs both now and in to the future.

Ms Cooke said it was vital the entire region’s needs be met in the redeveloped hospital.

“This project is an absolute passion of mine and I am determined the hospital redevelopment will cater to everyone, including the small communities around Cowra, who may not have had a chance to participate in community consultations in town,” Ms Cooke said.

“It was fantastic to speak with locals about what they feel the region’s health services need to provide, covering everything from maternity care, mental health, adequate parking and bringing in services that people currently travel to access.”

“Without these consultation sessions we might not have heard about some of the services that locals may currently be travelling to Orange to access that could potentially be in Cowra.”

“Thank you to everyone who came to these sessions and for being part of shaping this $70 million redevelopment.”

Anyone who would like to participate in the Cowra Hospital Redevelopment community consultation can contact the Cootamundra Electorate Office on 6382 2399.
