Anzac Day Commemorated Across the Cootamundra Electorate

Steph Cooke places a wreath at a stone with a plaque identifying the Wombat Lone Pine.

The Member for Cootamundra has thanked the entire community for marking Anzac Day at home.

Steph Cooke joined in the Light Up the Dawn initiative from her home in Young, before laying a wreath in Wombat.

Ms Cooke said while many Anzac Day services were not able to go ahead this year, it was heartening to see so many people marking the day.

“Anzac Day is a quiet morning for many of us as we reflect on the service of our fellow Australians. I was so impressed with how people took on the challenge of coming together while physically apart, it has made me so proud of our communities and their resilience,” Ms Cooke said.

“Making a wreath was my own way of commemorating, and it has been wonderful to see how many people made Anzac wreaths at home, fantastic organisations like the NDIS staff and clients at Job Centre Australia and so many families with small children doing this project together.”

“This important day brings us together like no other, we should be proud of how we commemorated and look forward to being able to come together again in 2021.”
