Barellan Gets Boost from Showground Stimulus

Steph Cooke stands with a group of Barellan locals holding a large cheque.

The Barellan Showground will soon be the home of new amenity and toilet buildings thanks to $244,992 from the NSW Government.

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke today announced the grant from the NSW Government’s Showground Stimulus package, which will be used to construct two single-storey amenity and toilet buildings.

Ms Cooke said the funding would be a boost to local jobs and events.

“I love coming to Barellan for fantastic events like the Good Old Days Festival, and this community deserves modern, permanent facilities at the showground,” Ms Cooke said.

“This is a strong investment in to Barellan’s future and will enable festivals, shows and events to grow and thrive.”

“Congratulations to the showground land manager and the community.”

President of the Barellan Showground Land Manager Graham Pellegrino said he was delighted at the funding.

“Every year the Barellan Clydesdales spend $10,000 plus on hiring toilets, that’s a lot of scones and cups of tea to sell to cover those costs,” Mr Pellegrino said.

“It’s fantastic for the region. A lot of community work is already going on to upgrade these grounds, and this funding just helps us do even more.”
