Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke has today announced funding for a new undercover outdoor play area for the Coolamon Early Childhood Centre.

A $15,000 grant from the Quality Learning Environments (QLE) program will create the new undercover area. This is the second grant from the QLE program, with $9,967.27 awarded in 2019/20 to build a new cubby house and soft fall mats.

Ms Cooke said the upgrades were continuing to improve the Coolamon Early Childhood Centre.

“Our littlest learners deserve up to date facilities and this is the latest in a huge amount of work at the Coolamon Early Childhood Centre,” Ms Cooke said.

“It’s clear the children love this facility and will get a lot of joy out of their new outdoor space.”

“I am so pleased the NSW Government has made this investment in to the Coolamon community.”

Centre Manager Renee Robertson said the new area would be a boost for local children.

“We’re really excited to receive this funding, mainly because it gives us the opportunities to play outdoors with the children in all sorts of weather

“Without this shelter when we have weeks of 40+ degree heat we are really limited in the time we can be outside, so this will create more opportunities for us to get the children outside,” Ms Robertson.

“Children respond better to being outside so we are really excited to have the opportunity to do that more.”

“With our recent expansion we can now have nine more children every day and we have even more of a purpose-built facility.”
