Early Payments for Young Preschool Kindergarten

Young Preschool Kindergarten will benefit from early payments of the NSW Government’s Quality Learning Environments program.

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke MP today visited Young Preschool Kindergarten to announce $9,085.45 for a multispace activity area.

“Our littlest learners deserve the best start in life, so it is crucial our early learning services have the resources they need to deliver this,” Ms Cooke said.

“This has been an incredibly challenging year and I am pleased this support has been given to this great service. The NSW Government is committed to strengthening education for early learners, and we are showing this support by making these payments early to services who need them.”

The Quality Learning Environments program provides grants of up to $15,000 to eligible early childhood services to purchase resources and activities which improve physical or educational learning environments.

Young Preschool Kindergarten Director Angie Milne said the Young Preschool community was so excited to hear that they were successful in the latest round of QLE grants for 2020.

“The intended outcome for this activity is to ensure children and educators have equal access to the indoor and outdoor environments within their winter program. The Preschool verandah is very exposed to the weather on wet and windy days making access limited for an indoor/outdoor program. If we enclose the verandah with weather proof awnings, on wet cold and windy days the area will be totally weather proof.

“This was part of our physical environment strategy which had been developed with the children, families, educators, committee and the wider community. This practice demonstrates meaningful engagement with our families and our community.”

Early payment is being made available to those services that have indicated an urgent need for funding. This may include quality improvement initiatives to meet the needs of services impacted by bushfire and recent severe weather events or other emergency situations such as COVID-19.

Further grant applications not requiring early payment will be progressed in December 2020.
