The Centre for Work Health and Safety is calling on inventors, researchers and developers of innovative tools and technology to come forward with their ideas on improving safety in NSW workplaces.
Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke said the $500,000 funding will be awarded to one or more ideas that have commercial potential.
“We are looking for ideas or products at any stage of development that could reduce existing harms in workplaces but need help to take them from a prototype to the market,” Ms Cooke said.
“This is a great opportunity for aspiring or established inventors in the Cootamundra region to work hand-in-hand with the Centre and develop an idea from its current state through to commercialisation.
“We encourage submissions from anyone who has an idea before 19 November – whether you’re a professional within the industry, researcher, or student.”
Minister for Better Regulation, Kevin Anderson said the program is centered around increasing workplace safety and saving lives.
“Taking a solution from an idea or prototype to market is a challenging process, and unfortunately so many great ideas and concepts never get off the ground. This funding is all about finding these innovative ideas and making them a reality,” Mr Anderson said.
“We know that technological developments in work health and safety have the potential to save lives, so it’s critical we support new innovations in this space to make the transition to market.”
The Centre has issued two previous EOI with themes of Changing World of Work and the Ageing Demographic, which saw 77 submissions with $1.2 million invested into six research projects.
