Funding for Cootamundra Electorate to Boost Summer Fun

The Member for Cootamundra has welcomed the announcement every local council in NSW can sign up for up to $10,000 in NSW Government funding for free events, activities or experiences to enliven local public spaces this summer.

The $1.3 million Festival of Place Summer Fund program will run from December until Easter next year, and will give councils across the Cootamundra electorate the opportunity to deliver free activities such as innovative lighting displays, outdoor markets, micro-festivals, open-air theatre, street parties, lawn libraries and street entertainment.

Steph Cooke MP said the funding would be a boost to Councils who had been unable to run major events in 2020.

“This is a great opportunity for councils to hold events and give a boost to local businesses, tourism and the chance for all of us to enjoy ourselves after a tough year,” Ms Cooke said.

“With further restrictions announced today including the relaxing of the four square metre rule, more of us can gather together in a COVID-safe way.”

“I urge every council in the Cootamundra electorate to apply for this funding for this financial lift for local events.”

Councils can submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) with a simple online form, in December or January, to boost events over Christmas and during summer.

Further information about the program and a link to the EOI is available at: https://www.dpie.nsw.gov.au/premiers-priorities/great-public-spaces/festival-of-place/summer-fund
