Mid Western Highway Upgraded Near Grenfell

Motorists in the Central West can now enjoy a smoother drive, with road surfacing improvements complete on a section of the Mid Western Highway near Grenfell.

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke said the upgrade carried out along a 3.3-kilometre section of the highway, 10 kilometres east of Grenfell, formed part of $1.4 million road rehabilitation works to improve regional roads.

“The improvements are a win-win, providing motorists in the area with increased safety, while also reducing future maintenance costs on the road with a longer lasting and improved road surface,” Ms Cooke said.

“A smoother road also helps cut maintenance costs for motorists by reducing wear and tear on vehicles.”

Work included widening and strengthening the road, as well as installing a guardrail in various sections along the side of the road within the project length.

The improvements also included safety upgrades at the intersections of Yambira Road and Mogongong Road.

Work was carried out by Weddin Shire Council on behalf of Transport for NSW.
