Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke, has announced the successful funding of $150,000 to the Coolamon Touch Football Club as part of the ClubsGrant funding program.
This funding will allow Coolamon Touch Football Club to upgrade the Jim Thompson Sporting Fields with the Coolamon Sport & Recreation Club, with the installation of lighting to the grounds.
Ms Cooke said providing funding to invest in regional sport, for recreation, competition, and community is essential for communities to stay connected and maintain a fit and healthy lifestyle.
“Touch football is a popular sport in across the electorate, and Coolamon Touch Football Club plays a key role in building community spirit and healthy living choices. This funding will ensure the club can continue to grow and deliver quality facilities for players and fans alike,” Ms Cooke said.
"Our local sporting clubs are at the heart of our communities, and it’s fantastic to see Coolamon Touch Football secure this vital funding, ensuring the club remains a vibrant hub for football enthusiasts of all ages," she said.
While grant funding is becoming more competitive, Ms Cooke acknowledged the incredibly high quality of applications across the Cootamundra electorate, to help improve facilities and support the growth of grassroots sports in the region.
“It’s great to see real investment in regional sports infrastructure, encouraging more participation, and supporting our hardworking players, supporters and volunteers. Together, our communities can ensure great facilities for future generations to enjoy sport well into the future.”
