COWRA HOSPITAL REDEVELOPMENT: COOKE CALLS FOR NEXT PHASE FUNDING TO BE LOCKED-IN

Friday, 6 November 2020

Ahead of the NSW Budget, Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke is calling for the

next phase of funding to be delivered for the redevelopment of Cowra Hospital.

“The draft Clinical Services Plan for Cowra Hospital is now available for public comment and I am calling for funding of the next phase – the development of a Master Plan – to be locked-in as part of the upcoming NSW Budget,” Ms Cooke said.

“This funding would allow Health Infrastructure to undertake more involved planning

work based on the information gathered as part of the Clinical Services Plan

process.

“The commitment to redevelop Cowra Hospital has been a top priority since coming into office, and I am confident it will progress to the next stage, as long as funding for a Master Plan is provided for in the 2020/21 budget.”

Following the announcement of $70.2 million for a transformed Cowra Hospital in the

2019/20 NSW Budget papers, Ms Cooke has remained in close contact with Minister

for Health Brad Hazzard, the Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD), local

GPs and health personnel, and Cowra Shire Council about next steps to deliver this

crucial project for the Cowra community.

Cowra Shire Mayor Cr Bill West has joined Ms Cooke in her call for funding of the

next phase.

“The Cowra community deserves a state-of-the-art health service and to have

funding in the upcoming budget will allow further planning to get underway, following

on from the great work already done on the Clinical Services Plan,” Cr West said.

A summary of the Clinical Services Plan is now available online, with feedback from

the community encouraged. For more information, go to
