TEMORA GOLF CLUB UPGRADES COMPLETED FOR CHRISTMAS

Wednesday, 18 December 2024

The newly upgraded Temora Golf Club was officially opened last Friday by Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke. The project was made possible thanks to $308,271 in funding through Round Five of the NSW Coalition Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund.

“It’s an absolute pleasure to officially open the upgraded facilities at Temora Golf Club,” Ms Cooke said.

“These improvements will provide a huge boost to the Club and its hardworking volunteers.”

“The Club now features a fantastic outdoor function area, giving members and visitors a comfortable space to relax, share stories, and enjoy the community spirit.”

“It’s also great to see the refurbishment of the women’s changerooms and the addition of an all-access toilet, ensuring the Club meets the needs of all patrons and visitors.”

“Sport plays such a vital role in our communities, and having high-quality, well-maintained facilities encourages more people to get involved or give sport a try,” Ms Cooke added.

Temora Golf Club President, Barry Flakelar, said the upgrades have given the Club a new lease of life.

“The Stronger Country Communities Fund has allowed us to refurbish amenities, including a new disabled toilet and shower, and redevelop the women’s meeting room into a more functional space with ramp access,” Mr Flakelar said.

“The improvements also include upgrades to the kitchenette and outdoor deck, the re-roofing of the BBQ area, and the installation of a new BBQ, kitchen, servery, and pizza oven.”

“When we apply for grants, the goal is always to enhance facilities, increase participation, and provide benefits to the community. These upgrades have significantly improved both the functionality and aesthetics of the Club, and, apart from the concrete grinding, all works were carried out by local tradespeople,” he said.

Temora Golf Club is a treasured community asset, boasting over 450 members. The course is predominantly maintained by volunteers and hosts competition golf on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. During daylight saving time, the Club runs a Summer Competition, further encouraging community participation.
