Thank You Health Workers

Please note: this photo dates from before social distancing measures.

I want to express my sincere thanks to all health workers not only in my electorate, but across the State.

Health workers around the world are on the front line of the fight against COVID-19. These professional people are working hard to keep all of us safe, going above and beyond dealing with a rapidly evolving situation.

These individuals deserve the highest praise. In many countries medical practitioners are working around the clock to combat this virus.

Closer to home, many hospitals, GPs, nurses, aged care workers, clinicians, paramedics, hospital support staff, medical administrators, pathologists, cleaners and other health workers are bracing themselves for what is to come.

Our Local Health Districts are dealing with the difficult task in managing this changing situation, I want to personally thank them for keeping me informed on their work and commend them for their leadership.

I want to thank you all for your dedication, your professionalism and your service. We are all extremely grateful, you are such a vital part of our communities.

For the rest of us, we must do everything we can to support medical professionals and vulnerable people in our communities.

This means practicing social distancing, working from home if you can, washing your hands with soap and water, or with hand sanitiser, to reduce the spread of this virus.

We must all listen to health advice and to the regular updates from authorities.

And most importantly we must look out for each other. We will get through this.
