Weddin Shire will soon see extensive improvements to New Forbes Road thanks to funding from the NSW Government.

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke announced $4,305,839.39 from the Fixing Local Roads program to upgrade New Forbes Road.

This funding joins $4,616,912 from Round 1 for 3 local road projects across Weddin Shire.

Ms Cooke said the work would help improve road safety across the shire.

“This project is going to make a huge difference for everyone who uses New Forbes Road, whether they are primary producers, motorists or transport operators,” Ms Cooke said.

“The Weddin Shire Council have done great work in their grant applications and I am proud the NSW Government has delivered this support for them.”

“We want our roads network to help our communities thrive by keeping them better connected, this work will do just that.”

Mayor of Weddin Shire Council Mark Liebich said the work would transform New Forbes Road.

“The New Forbes Road has needed work for a long period of time, this will take it from a single lane tar road to one that meets B-Double standards. This will be a great boost for local farmers and the shire,” Cr Liebich said.

“Without funding we wouldn’t be able to do this work, this means the project can go ahead.”

“The Weddin Shire is extremely grateful to Steph Cooke and to the NSW Government.”
