Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke has today visited Weethalle Showground to celebrate $144,108 in recent funding.

The funding, granted as part of the NSW Government COVID-19 stimulus package, will refurbish the kitchen, install outdoor seating and bring power to the recreation ground.

Mark Booker, President of Weethalle Show Society Incorporated, said that the small community of Weethalle was blown away by the generosity of the NSW Government.

“This funding is both a morale and infrastructure boost for a community that has been struggling with drought. This infrastructure upgrade will be enjoyed by many generations.”

Steph Cooke MP said she was delighted to see Weethalle Showground receive this funding as part of a total $1,779,153 allocated to showgrounds across the Cootamundra electorate.

“Twenty showgrounds in the electorate, out of a total of 137 across the state, have received funding under the first round of this package.

“I am so proud of the effort that went into putting together successful applications to see these much-loved facilities undergo improvements that will make a difference to the community for years to come.

“Our showgrounds truly are the heart of our communities.”
