WEST WYALONG COMMUNITY HEALTH HUB OFFICIALLY OPENED

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke MP has welcomed the official opening of a $433,000 upgrade to the West Wyalong Health Facility to include the new Community Health hub.

“It is fantastic to open this superb new facility to service the community of West Wyalong and broader region, and I want to thank everyone who has been involved in this project from planning stage right through to moving day,” Ms Cooke said.

Following a joint consultation process with user groups, staff and Local Health Advisory Committee (LHAC), work on the project commenced in May and were completed in August 2020.

The upgrades create one central location for health services in West Wyalong with the new facilities including community nurse and allied health treatment rooms, multipurpose consultation rooms, physiotherapy facilities, staff offices and enhanced storage.

“We are so excited to welcome our community health colleagues in the collation onto our site,” said West Wyalong Health Service Manager Kylie Holland.

“The relocation offers the opportunity for a one-stop-shop for all things relating to health and a holistic approach where all health services can be connected and makes better use of the existing space currently available within the hospital site.”

The project was made possible by $368,000 funding under the NSW Government’s Rural Health Minor Works Project (RHMWP), with an additional $65,000 from Murrumbidgee Local Health District for site enhancements including security and access control.
