Win for Weed Control at Narrandera Racecourse

Steph Cooke presents a cheque to a group of people.

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke has today announced funding from the NSW Government’s Crown Reserves Improvement Fund for the Narrandera Racecourse.

Ms Cooke said the $8,669 for weed control at the racecourse would help maintain the important community space.

“Racecourses are such a vital community asset and here in Narrandera it is used by a range of local organisations,” Ms Cooke said.

“This investment from the NSW Government will give the many volunteers who maintain the racecourse a helping hand to tackle weeds and be enjoyed by users and visitors alike.”

Chair of the Narrandera Racecourse Trust Ken Murphy said the funding would benefit a range of community groups.

“The racecourse has really been a success story and building opportunities for the entire community, the committee has been working extremely hard for a number of years and getting positive results,” Mr Murphy said.

“This weeds grant will help all three main community groups who use this space; the racing club, the pony club and the rodeo club.”
