Woodstock Has Need for Speed

The Woodstock Park Speedway has a bright future with upgrades opened by the Member for Cootamundra.

Steph Cooke MP opened upgrades made possible through $329,534 from Round 2 of the Stronger Country Communities Fund, which was originally intended to provide lighting and all-weather projection.

With these works completed within the timeframe and under budget, an approval was given to also install a portable toilet block, portable office and portable speedway tower, which are due to be completed next year.

Ms Cooke said the Cowra Motorcycle Racing Club should be very proud of what they have achieved.

“The work that has happened at the Speedway is incredible, this grant has been utilised to its fullest extent to create a huge amount of infrastructure that is going to improve the experience of riders, spectators, staff and visitors,” Ms Cooke said.

“It’s clear the Club community and their supporters have proved they can get bang for buck from grants, this is an impressive effort from everyone involved.”

“I know the work here will mean more events coming to this fantastic facility that will be a boost to the whole region.”

Cowra Motorcycle Racing Club President Steve Kurtz said the work had transformed the site.

“It was a goal of mine for the past two years to be able to do what we have now done but I never thought it would happen. This grant helped us immensely,” Mr Kurtz said.

“All the work was mainly done because we’ve got so many young kids coming through, we produce so many good riders and to have these new facilities means it is so much easier for us to be able to develop them and their skills, and help them fulfil their dreams.”

“We can now attract national and international events and our local riders are so happy with the upgrades.”
