The Member for Cootamundra has inspected the work underway at the West Wyalong Rodeo Association and Rugby Club.

The NSW Government jointly awarded $839,009 from Round 2 of the Stronger Country Communities Fund (SCCF) to the Association and the Club to provide power and lighting to both grounds.

Steph Cooke MP said the work is progressing well.

“The SCCF is all about making our communities more liveable, and I am so proud that this fund has invested more than $35 million in to 178 projects across the Cootamundra electorate,” Ms Cooke said

“Here in West Wyalong this project is injecting funds in to the local economy, creating jobs and increasing the types of events that can be held at these grounds.”

“It has been great to be able to see how much has been done at the sites and I can’t wait to see the finished work.”

Project Manager Andrew Connellan said the project will be a boost to the entire community.

“These LED lights are very cost-efficient to run, and it’s great we will be able to run some night events at these grounds. It is so important to get outside interest in the town in what we have to offer with sporting venues,” Mr Connellan said.

“Stage 1 works are finished, the rodeo ground is complete with power and new lighting, and we’re hoping to have the rugby ground completed well before Christmas.”
