Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke has today announced $115,000 funding to support stage two of the Barellan United Football and Netball Club’s court redevelopment.
The funding has been secured under Category 3 of the NSW Government’s ClubGrants Fund.
Ms Cooke said the grant will go a long way in ensuring the community has access to high-quality sporting infrastructure.
“I’m incredibly excited to be here today to discuss how much of a difference this funding will make to the local community,” Ms Cooke said.
“There’s no doubt sport plays such a big role in bringing people together and it’s so important that this continues now and into the future.
This announcement marks the latest funding received by the Barellan community for the Barellan Sportsground, which has included:
– $30,300 under Community Building Partnerships 2017 for lighting upgrade
– $185,000 for amenities and change rooms under ClubGrants Category 3;
– $269,000 under Stronger Communities Fund Round 1, also for change rooms.
Barellan Netball Club Head Coach Jody Landy said it is great to see the NSW Government investing in regional communities.
“Completing these upgrades provides our kids with more opportunities to get involved in the sports they love at a great facility,” Miss Landy said.
“Not only will this help out the school, the upgrade will benefit the netball league within a 150 kilometre region.”
