$2,536,010 to Fix Local Roads Across Hilltops Shire

Work to fix local roads across the Hilltops Shire will soon be underway thanks to a joint funding effort from the Australian and NSW Governments.

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke today announced $2,536,010 from the Fixing Local Roads program for 11 road rehabilitation and sealing projects across the shire.

“This funding boost will enable the Hilltops Council to undertake important road projects which will mean everyone using our roads, from school buses, agriculture freight and visitors, can travel more safely around our region,” Ms Cooke said.

“I look forward to seeing this work take shape around the region.”

Hilltops Mayor Brian Ingram said the funding was a boost for the community.

“This is great news for our region. Improvements to local roads that result in increased safety is a win for the community,” Cr Ingram said.

“I thank both the State and Federal Governments for their assistance in securing this funding.”

The Australian Government has committed $191 million to build on the first round of the NSW Government’s $500 million Fixing Local Roads program, ensuring even more regional communities benefit, faster.

The local projects being funded are:

Pavement Rehabilitation

  • Dundas Street, Young – heavy patching of road deformations
  • McMahons Reef Road, Jugiong – heavy patching of road deformations
  • Trafalgar Street, Young – heavy patching of road deformations
  • Moppity Road, Young – heavy patching of road deformations
  • Bribbaree Road – heavy patching of road deformations
  • Tubbul Road – heavy patching of road deformations
  • Scenic Road – heavy patching of road deformations
  • Colorado Road – heavy patching of road deformations
  • Berthong Road – heavy patching of road deformations
  • Backcreek Road, heavy patching of road deformations

Seal Extension / Initial Sealing

  • Hintons Road, sealing of unsealed road for safety, dust suppression, access improvement
