$461,500 Emergency Department upgrade makes Cootamundra Hospital more efficient

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke visited Cootamundra Hospital today to officially open the newly upgraded Emergency Department.

The $461,500 overhaul has created improved access for ambulances and patients, greatly enhancing the ability of local doctors, nurses and paramedics to provide state-of-the-art services for the Cootamundra community.

“This is a fantastic investment in this community, sending a strong message that we really do care about the people of Cootamundra and their health needs,” Ms Cooke said.

“This upgrade at Cootamundra Hospital will create a much better environment for patients and medical professionals, and enable this wonderful facility to serve Cootamundra and the surrounding area even more effectively.

“The Emergency Department has been relocated slightly and the entrances and exits have been realigned to allow for much better access for ambulances as well as allowing patients and visitors easier access to the hospital and between departments

“There is also an Emergency Department waiting room and a triage room where patients can be assessed by nursing staff in privacy.”

Ms Cooke added that the administration area has also been moved to the front of the hospital.

“These upgrades are part of $8 million announced last year under the NSW Government’s Rural Health Minor Works Program, and I’m proud to be part of a NSW Government which is investing so much in health infrastructure in our communities.

“Our medical professionals do such important work and so it’s vital that this Government creates efficient spaces for them to do so.”
