Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke today awarded two NSW Sports Grants to the Ardelthan, Ariah Park-Mirool Football & Netball Club, the Northern Jets.
The Club received $5,000 to subsidise registration and travel costs, and an additional $2,000 to purchase accounting software and provide coach accreditation.
Ms Cooke said it has been a challenging year for many local clubs, so she was pleased this support had been secured.
“This is a fantastic injection in to this club and will help more people play sport,” Ms Cooke said.
“Sport is such a vital part of our communities and I am so pleased we have been able to support the Jets in this way. I look forward to watching them in action next season.”
Ardelthan, Ariah Park-Mirool Football & Netball Club Chair Robyn Buerckner said the grants would make a huge difference for local players, who had been training via Zoom during isolation.
“This means a lot for our club this year, coming off the back of three years of ordinary farming conditions and we’ve relied on donations from farmers at harvest time in the past,” Ms Buerckner said.
“This funding will help keep local youth involved in group sports, so it will keep them active and involved in the club as they move in to senior years.”
Applications for the next round of NSW Sports Grants open today and close at 5:00pm Wednesday, 7 October 2020.
