Cootamundra Crown Lands rejoice at $3.5 million helping hand

Twelve Cootamundra projects will share in almost $776,000 worth of grants, while two will receive loans totalling almost $2.8 million thanks to the NSW Government’s Crown Land Improvement Fund.

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke said the funding would support the hard work of local groups.

“Our local halls and our showgrounds are such vital social places in this electorate of small communities, and it’s our incredible volunteers and committees who maintain these wonderful assets,” Ms Cooke said.

“I’m so proud to be here at the West Wyalong Show to announce almost $268,000 to construct a new amenities block with improved disability access for this hardworking committee and community.

“This round of Crown Reserve Improvement Fund grants will also fund significant improvements to showgrounds in Illabo, Ganmain, Temora, and Cowra.

“Illabo Showgrounds will benefit from more than $100,000 in works, which will see the trot track and pavilion floor repaired, as well as the construction of a new shower and toilet facility.

“At Temora and Trengrove Park toilets will be upgraded, including the installation of facilities for the disabled. These are important projects ensuring that our showgrounds and public land can be enjoyed by all.”

In addition, almost $2.8 million in loans has been offered to NSW Crown Holiday Parks for urgently needed upgrades to fire management and sewer systems at Wyangala Waters State Park.

Minister for Lands and Forestry Paul Toole said the Crown Reserves Improvement Fund program was focussed on ensuring communities and visitors could continue to enjoy local land and facilities.

“This year we’ve made a record investment into Crown land with more than $20 million in grants and loans being provided across the state,” Mr Toole said.

To date, the NSW Government has invested $115 million across seven years into Crown land projects.

CRIF supports Crown reserve managers by providing funding for repairs and maintenance projects, pest and weed control, new recreational infrastructure and environmental initiatives.
