A Gundagai man who goes above and beyond for his community has been recognised with a Seniors Local Achievement Award.
Alan Dundas was nominated for his continuous contributions to the community.
Mr Dundas regularly undertakes gardening for people in the community, has added a secure dog bowl for public use at Carberry Park and heats up the local hall for craft groups in winter.
Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke said she was proud to recognise this champion of the Gundagai community.
“Alan Dundas is someone who goes above and beyond for others, but sees this work as simply being a good neighbour and a good member of the community. I am so pleased we are celebrating his work today,” Ms Cooke said.
“Our communities thrive when people like Mr Dundas go the extra mile and I thank him for his years of service to others.”
“This Seniors Local Achievement Award is a small token of appreciation for his ongoing efforts for the Gundagai community.”
Alan Dundas said the award was humbling.
“I am very surprised to receive this. There are so many other people around town who deserve to be recognised,” Mr Dundas said.
“I get a lot of satisfaction in helping others. I prune a lot of gardens for women who have lost their husbands, anything I can do to help.”
“This is a very close-knit community and it’s a place where people like to help one another, Gundagai is renowned for that.”
