Safe shooting program helps clubs hit safety target

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke today announced applications are now open for the Safe Shooting Program to help deliver upgrades to shooting clubs and ranges across NSW.

Ms Cooke said the grants will allow clubs and ranges to continue to upgrade their facilities safely and to provide opportunities for the community to participate in the sport.

“It is important the community can practise their sport in a safe environment and the Safe Shooting Program helps them do this,” Ms Cooke said.

“These grants help to provide a great opportunity for all clubs and ranges to review and evaluate capital upgrades, and to continue to provide safe and improved access to clubs and ranges.”

For the 2018-2019 year one off ‘micro-grants’ up to $1,000 will also be considered for a small non-ongoing project, for example:

  • provision of first aid courses for volunteer members;
  • installation of safe storage facilities; or
  • providing transport for people with a disability to attend an open day to try the sport of shooting.

Grants are open until Monday October 8 2018. For more information and to apply visit www.sport.nsw.gov.au/grants.
