Steph Cooke honours Young SES Unit

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke visited the Young SES Unit today to present them with funding for new flagpoles, the morning after a testing day of floods and damage.

The announcement came following a busy day for the SES responding to yesterday’s damaging storms.

“The SES here in Young under the great leadership of Chris Duffy requested a flagpole for their station when I visited them last year,” Ms Cooke said.

“The members of this Unit are very proud of their station and the work they do in the community and wanted to express this further by flying the Australian flag.

“There’s no better day than today, after our SES have been responding to yesterday’s storm, to extend both my and the community’s thanks for their continued and most valued service.”

Ms Cooke was successful in securing $3,934 in discretionary funds through the Minister for Emergency Services, Troy Grant for two flagpoles.

Minister Grant commended the Young SES Unit on their commitment and service to the community.

“The Government recognises the value of this contribution and is committed to providing the best possible support and equipment to underpin efforts,” Minister for Emergency Services Troy Grant said.
