The future looks sunny for West Wyalong Men’s Shed

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke visited the West Wyalong Men’s Shed on Wednesday, January 30, to announce the NSW Government would fund the installation of solar panels to help them manage ongoing electricity costs.

Ms Cooke lobbied for funding for the worthy project, securing it through the Minister for Ageing, Tanya Davies.

“The Men’s Shed do such an exceptional job promoting inclusivity and supporting men of all ages here in West Wyalong,” Ms Cooke said.

“We’re all feeling the pinch of energy prices in the hot weather, but the committee at the Men’s Shed are thinking ahead, embracing the power of solar energy in an effort to make their heating and cooling more efficient.

“It’s my pleasure to present them with a cheque for $9,000 towards the installation of panels to ensure this shed is ready for workers whatever the weather!”

Minister Davies said community connection programs like Men’s Sheds make a real and positive difference in people’s lives.

“Men’s Sheds provide an incredible opportunity for men young and old to share their skills and make important social connections,” Mrs Davies said.

“I want to thank Steph Cooke for her strong advocacy for this fantastic project, which the NSW Government is pleased to provide funding to,” she added.
