Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke is encouraging residents to highlight the brilliant women in their personal and professional lives, with nominations now open for the 2020 NSW Women of the Year Awards.
“So many women pour their heart and soul into their careers, families and volunteer work, strengthening and enriching our community,” Ms Cooke said.
“These women are inspiring role models for all young women and girls in the Cootamundra electorate and it’s time we show them that they are appreciated. I urge everybody to spend a few minutes on a nomination and let the women in their lives know they are valued.
“In this year’s awards we were privileged to have two winners: Dr Louise Baker from Cowra and Associate Professor Faye McMillan from Coolamon. Dr Baker received the Rex Airlines Regional Woman of the Year Award, while Dr McMillan was chosen as NSW Aboriginal Woman of the Year.
“Their achievements show what is possible and so I encourage everybody in the Cootamundra electorate to put forward their nominations.”
Minister for Women Bronwyn Taylor said the Awards, which will celebrate their ninth year in 2020, recognise women who have demonstrated excellence in business and society or made outstanding contributions to their community.
“I urge everyone to submit a nomination and recognise the many brilliant women and young women who are achieving so much in their fields in NSW, and making our communities stronger, Ms Taylor said.
“Women from all walks of life make significant contributions to their communities while overcoming gender inequality, raising families, and pursuing careers in male-dominated fields. This is your chance to recognise these women and let them know their hard work does not go unnoticed.”
Women can be nominated in seven award categories:
- NSW Premier’s Award Woman of the Year
