Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke has today visited Harden’s McLean Oval to announce $112,000 funding, which will contribute to the construction of a new facility.
The funding, secured under the NSW Government’s ClubGrants Category 3 Fund, will be used by the Harden-Murrumburrah Junior Rugby League Club to help build a facility that will benefit players and spectators alike.
Ms Cooke said it is incredibly exciting to be able to announce a funding boost to help the Club with a major project.
“Our sporting organisations play such an important role in the community, so I’m excited that I can be here today to offer a helping hand just as construction is getting underway,” Ms Cooke said.
“The new multi-purpose facility will feature a canteen and BBQ area, as well as dressing sheds, change rooms and a broadcast area. Spectators will also be able to brave the weather from the comfort of a new seating area.”
Harden Murrumburrah Junior Rugby League Club President and McLean Oval Project Coordinator Kai Steele said the funding has come at the perfect time.
“Overall, the new facility will be a welcomed addition to the town and it’s great to receive this funding which means we can complete all elements of the project,” Mr Steele said.
“I’m incredibly excited to see this project completed. For the first time, we will have referee change rooms as well as a club room and I know it’ll really help junior and senior league.”
The project is set to be completed by the end of May 2020.
