Work begins on Temora Hospital theatre upgrade

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke has announced that work has begun on establishing the site for the Temora Hospital operating theatre upgrade.

“This vital upgrade will ensure Temora’s existing theatre is an optimal environment for delivering the best possible care to patients,” Ms Cooke said.

“It’s wonderful to see this project get underway and I look forward to seeing improved outcomes and experiences for patients from Temora and the surrounding region.”

Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) General Manager Operations Carla Bailey said the site development will clear the way for demolition works in late March.

“The upgrade to the existing operating theatre is on track for completion later this year and will complement the recently completed upgrade to the hospital’s medical ward,” Ms Bailey said.

“Fugen Constructions has been engaged to complete the upgrade. There has been extensive consultation with key stakeholders in the community, including doctors and nurses, on the existing operating theatre upgrade.”

Ms Bailey said arrangements had been made with the construction team to ensure any disruption to patients and staff during the upgrade is minimised.

“We ask for your patience while the work is carried out, as there will be some noise, vibration and dust during the demolition and construction phase,” Ms Bailey said.
