Floodplain management grants open

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke is reminding local councils to apply for the NSW Government’s 2018 Floodplain Management Program.

“This grant program funds important projects that assess risk and help reduce flood impacts across NSW,” Ms Cooke said.

“The grants can assist local government with flood studies, flood risk management studies and plans. They can also be applied to works such as flood levees, gates, warning systems and house raising and purchase in high risk areas.”

The grant program aims to reduce the impacts of flooding and flood liability on communities. The last funding round of $8.84 million supported 59 projects.

Local councils, county councils and other government bodies with floodplain risk management responsibilities are eligible to apply for a grant.

Applications for the 2018 round of the Floodplain Management Program opened on February 7 and close on March 28, 2018.
