Green slip refunds available now for Cootamundra drivers

Nearly 50,000 motor vehicle owners across the Cootamundra electorate will be able to access their CTP Green Slip refund from today.

The NSW Government overhauled the old CTP Green Slip Scheme last year to bring down the cost for motorists across the state.

In addition to lower premiums in 2018, the Government is providing partial refunds to the owners of vehicles across the state with insurance premiums calculated based on the cost of the old scheme.

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke said the new scheme will deliver real savings.

“The average Green Slip price this year across country areas will be $423 down from $481 last year,” she said.

People with a MyServiceNSW email account can expect to receive an email advising them if they are entitled to a refund. The refund will be processed through their MyServiceNSW account and paid into a bank account of their choice.

Vehicle owners who do not have a MyServiceNSW account can check online if they are eligible for a refund (www.service.nsw.nsw.gov.au/greensliprefund) or visit their local Service NSW centre. There’s no hurry, as refunds are available until September 30, 2018.

Minister for Finance, Services and Property Victor Dominello said as a result of the Government’s reforms, over $15 million will be returned to vehicle owners across Southern NSW. The average refund is $33.

“The new CTP scheme is delivering a big win for motorists through lower premiums, greater protections for those injured on the road and refunds on premiums paid during 2017,” Mr Dominello said.

This is one of a raft of government measures to ease the cost of living including cheaper hospital car parking and the new FuelCheck app.

Refunds will be available online at service.nsw.gov.au/greensliprefund during the evening from 7pm until 7am from Monday to Saturday and all day Sunday.
