Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke has opened upgrades to Temora’s Nixon Park amenities.
The NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund invested $123,500 in to the amenity upgrades, which join a new clubhouse and kiosk made possible through a previous $324,000 grant from the program.
Ms Cooke said the finished upgrades were already being enjoyed by the community.
“Nixon Park is a much-loved and well-used recreation facility in Temora so it’s a real pleasure to be able to unveil these upgrades,” Ms Cooke said.
“These improvements make this ground an even better place to play, watch and referee sport and I congratulate the Temora Shire Council for their great work here.”
“The NSW Government has made an unprecedented investment in to sport and recreation facilities in Temora, ensuring everyone can get out and enjoy life, and helping to build a stronger regional NSW.”
Mayor of the Temora Shire Council Rick Firman said the upgrades would enable more women to get involved in community sport.
“These upgrades mean a great deal particularly in terms of women’s sport and female umpires and ensuring they have facilities,” Cr Firman said.
“This is our number one used ground and this work enhances it significantly.”
